Bandwidth Beacon Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Bandwidth Beacon macOS application.

Stephen Kavazos is the developer responsible for Bandwidth Beacon and operates SKAV Digital as the public website and software brand for the app. This policy explains how Bandwidth Beacon processes network measurements locally, stores preferences and current-session information on your Mac, and handles information you voluntarily provide when contacting support.

This policy does not cover Apple's independent App Store, TestFlight, payment, account, crash-reporting, or diagnostic systems.

Stephen Kavazos does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information through Bandwidth Beacon.

In normal use, the app does not send data to the developer. It does not collect or transmit:

• names, email addresses, account details, or identifiable device data
• browsing history, visited websites, domains, or URLs
• downloaded or uploaded file names or file contents
• message contents, packet contents, or passwords
• precise location, network credentials, or advertising identifiers
• analytics, telemetry, or diagnostics directly from the app

Information you choose to provide in a support communication is handled separately as described in Section H and is not automatically collected by the app.

No user account is required to use Bandwidth Beacon.

Bandwidth Beacon reads aggregate byte counters supplied by macOS for the active routed network interface.

These counters allow the app to calculate current download and upload rates, recent graph history, peak rates, and totals for the current session. Bandwidth Beacon measures traffic quantity only. It does not inspect packet contents, identify downloaded or uploaded files, or collect browsing history, domains, or URLs.

Accessing macOS interface counters for local calculation does not transmit those measurements to the developer. Network measurements are not sent to Stephen Kavazos.

App preferences are stored locally using normal macOS application preferences.

Stored preferences may include your selected units, smoothing, update interval, colour accents, download-only mode, and Launch at Login state.

Temporary graph history and session measurements remain on the Mac for the current app session. Bandwidth Beacon does not send those measurements to the developer or store them in a developer-controlled cloud service.

Bandwidth Beacon does not retain network measurements on developer-controlled servers because those measurements are never transmitted off your Mac to the developer.

Session measurements and graph history are maintained locally for the current app session. Selecting Reset Session clears the current session statistics and graph history. Temporary session information is also cleared when the app session ends.

Local preferences, including units, smoothing, update interval, colour accents, download-only mode, and Launch at Login, remain in normal macOS application-preference storage until you change or remove them, or macOS removes them. Removing only the app bundle may not automatically remove preferences stored separately by macOS.

You can remove local preferences through normal macOS app-removal or preference-removal processes. No request to the developer is required to delete information held only on your own Mac.

The Bandwidth Beacon app contains:

• no advertising
• no third-party analytics
• no behavioural tracking
• no telemetry service
• no third-party marketing SDK
• no browsing-history, domain, or URL collection

Apple may independently process information when you use its services.

Depending on the services you choose and your Apple settings, Apple may process App Store purchases, TestFlight participation, crash information, diagnostic information, payment information, and Apple account information under Apple's own systems and policies. Stephen Kavazos does not control Apple's handling of that information.

Bandwidth Beacon does not automatically send crash information, diagnostics, telemetry, or identifiable device data directly to the developer. Apple's independent processing does not mean that the developer collects those categories through the app.

Information is received only when you voluntarily contact support.

A support message may include your name, email address, and any information or files you choose to provide. Stephen Kavazos uses that information to understand and respond to your request. Support communications are separate from automatic app data collection: Bandwidth Beacon does not automatically send support diagnostics or create a support message on your behalf.

Bandwidth Beacon is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically directed at children.

Bandwidth Beacon is designed to keep its network measurements on the device.

Stephen Kavazos takes reasonable care in the design of the app, but no software, device, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure in every circumstance. You remain responsible for maintaining the security of your Mac and macOS account.

This policy may be updated when the app or relevant practices change.

Updates will be published on this page with a revised last updated date.
