Bandwidth Beacon
Terms & Conditions
Plain-English terms for using the Bandwidth Beacon macOS application.
These terms describe Bandwidth Beacon's purpose, measurement limitations, user responsibilities, and purchase arrangements. Mac App Store distribution is also governed by Apple's applicable terms and Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Section 1
Acceptance
By purchasing, downloading, or using Bandwidth Beacon, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the applicable terms governing the channel through which you obtained the app.
If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Section 2
Purpose
Bandwidth Beacon is a general network-activity monitoring utility with ordinary whole-interface monitoring and optional Per-App Network Insights.
Per-App Network Insights is available in the current release. When enabled, it can show aggregate upload and download rates and current-session totals associated with locally identified applications, helpers, and system services.
It is not:
- an official internet speed certification or diagnostic guarantee
- a network-security scanner or packet analyser
- a service-level monitoring system
- an emergency or safety service
Section 3
Measurement limitations
Bandwidth Beacon displays estimates using network-measurement information provided by macOS.
Ordinary whole-interface monitoring uses aggregate byte counters for the active routed network interface. Optional Per-App Network Insights uses Apple's Network Extension framework to receive aggregate flow statistics and locally available application or process identity. It does not inspect packet contents, websites, URLs, or transferred files.
macOS cannot reliably identify the parent application for every network flow. Bandwidth Beacon may therefore display a shared helper or system service, such as Web Activity, rather than guess which parent application originated the activity.
Readings may differ from internet service provider figures, browser speed tests, router statistics, or other monitoring apps. Differences may result from protocol overhead, smoothing, sampling intervals, background traffic, local network transfers, VPN or virtual interfaces, active-interface selection, or operating-system behaviour.
Exact, complete, certified, or uninterrupted measurements are not guaranteed.
Section 4
User responsibility
You remain responsible for how you interpret and use the information shown by Bandwidth Beacon.
This includes responsibility for:
- managing your network, internet service, and data usage
- maintaining device and account security
- checking important results using suitable tools and information
- complying with workplace, device, and network policies that apply to you
Section 5
Availability and compatibility
Network configurations and Mac environments vary.
The current released version requires macOS 15.6 or later. Per-App Network Insights is optional, is off until enabled, and requires one-time macOS approval. Ordinary Bandwidth Beacon monitoring continues to work if the feature is not enabled or is later disabled.
Features may change over time, and macOS updates, hardware, network interfaces, VPNs, security software, or other system changes may affect the app's behaviour. SKAV Digital does not promise uninterrupted operation or compatibility with every network configuration.
This section does not limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited.
Section 6
Purchases and refunds
Mac App Store purchases and refund requests are processed by Apple.
Apple's applicable App Store processes, payment terms, and refund policies apply. SKAV Digital does not receive your full payment-card details and cannot promise refunds outside Apple's process.
Section 7
Intellectual property
Bandwidth Beacon, its branding, and original SKAV Digital website content remain the property of SKAV Digital or the applicable rights holder.
Your purchase gives you a licence to use the app under the applicable licence terms; it does not transfer ownership of the app or branding.
Section 8
Prohibited use
You must not use Bandwidth Beacon unlawfully or interfere with its legitimate operation.
You must not:
- use the app for an unlawful purpose
- attempt to bypass app or distribution security
- distribute unauthorised copies
- falsely represent Bandwidth Beacon as your own product
These restrictions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law and do not prevent conduct that lawfully cannot be restricted.
Section 9
Disclaimer and liability
Bandwidth Beacon is provided as a general utility, and its measurements may not be exact.
To the extent permitted by law, SKAV Digital is not responsible for loss resulting from treating a displayed measurement as certified, complete, or suitable for a purpose the app is not designed to perform. You should use appropriate professional, provider, router, or diagnostic tools when an important decision requires them.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified, including rights under applicable Australian Consumer Law.
Section 10
Apple Standard EULA
Distribution through the Mac App Store is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and Apple's applicable App Store terms, unless another licence is expressly supplied through App Store Connect.
These Terms & Conditions provide product-specific information and are not intended to replace or contradict Apple's applicable licence terms.
Section 11
Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable Australian law.
Nothing in this section removes any rights you have under a law that applies regardless of a contractual choice of law, or requires a dispute to be brought only in one particular jurisdiction.
Section 12
Changes and contact
These terms may be updated when the app, distribution arrangements, or applicable requirements change.
Updates will be published on this page with a revised last updated date.
